New York City

Last week, Tak and I took a much-needed vaycay to visit the fine folks in NYC. It was a great trip, start to finish.

We flew Virgin America. I may never fly anything else. They have party lights & personal TVs! I watched Kathy Griffin. Could it get any better?

We hit the ground running, toured Brooklyn and met up with Jeremy, Kim and MacKenzie for dinner & drinks.

Mac D let us crash at her new pad. Plus she made maple infused pear cheesecake!

On Sunday we checked out the NYC marathon.

We got there just in time to see MacKenzie jog by.

Then it was bagel time. Mmm.

We met up with friends again for a delicious Italian dinner. Robyn came and filled us all in about her work at Word World.

While our friends were at work, Tak and I did some sight-seeing. First stop was Rockefeller Plaza. We didn't go up to the top because it was rainy and expensive.

But we did see the Zamboni.

We also stopped by the American Girl Store so I could relive some precious memories. It was kind of a letdown, though. They "retired" Samantha and Kirsten! Now their main focus is just selling the American Girl of Today dolls (if that's what they're still called), which are lame and non-educational.

Times Square!

We stopped in this little Times Square info center and saw the New Year's Eve ball! You know how I love color-changing lights. Tres exciting.

Next stop: MOMA
The museum was packed, but we made our way through.

Of course we had to say hello to Starry Night.

Tak almost fell through this window. OH no!

Dinner at Becco with Ivy, Keith, Robyn, & Jeremy.

On another daytime tour, we went to Trump Tower,

where we got fancy, shmancy lunch at Jean Georges.

We had the most prime booth and got to watch everyone there.

Maybe the most delicious dessert ever: sweet pea (frozen) panna cotta and blackberries three ways.

AND they were filming a movie outside. AND we saw BEN STILLER. In the flesh. CELEB SIGHTING!

We also saw this big bird imposter in Central Park.

And this equestrian.

And this lake.

We love Central Park!

So much that we got a caricature there!

Then we went to The High Line park, which was amazing! It's an elevated park on old train tracks. SO cool!

Plus it has views of some pretty cool buildings.

Tak was especially taken with these benches.

We also visited Robyn at her wine bar! We probably should have serenaded her with our rendition of "Bartender." Maybe if we'd had a few more glasses we would have thought of that.

Then off to Broadway to see Promises, Promises!

It starred Sean Hayes, one of my favorite celebs! (Kristen Chenoweth was gone that day, so we saw her understudy.)

Plus we got to visit their art storage room. Super cool.

On our last night, we went to Grimaldi's for birthday pizza.

It was deeelicious.

Then we walked along the Brooklyn Bridge.
