november in ca

I got a new point and shoot digital camera (thanks, Mom)! And with it I took these pictures:

testing the camera at Tak's

testing at work

Andrew posing in the video camera at the bank (alternate title: lunch break fun)

Lizzie had a BIRTHDAY!
We celebrated at Jupiter with cake and presents and pizza and beer and friends!

Lizzie even got Bumpits for her birthday! (And I promptly tested them out.)

And then Robert came to town! He brought his friend Robert and we had brunch. It was mighty fine.

And Alena was there.

Enjoying a fancy drank.

And I enjoyed this fried chicken-topped waffle with gravy! Ohmygod.

And just a few short days later we celebrated Tak's birthday. My friends look kind of sad in this picture, but I assure you, they were just impatient with my inability to figure out the flash on my new camera. Really, truly fun was had by all. As was barbecue!

So there you have it.

preview

Blogger is still giving me trouble, but I was able to upload one photo. So, with promises of more to come, I bring you ...

Roberts!

Robert (center) came to visit! And he brought his friend Robert (left)! It was a short trip, but it was long enough for us to enjoy some Saturday brunch together. Photos (of fried chicken waffels, among other things) coming soon.

This is Halloween. Halloween. Halloween!

To celebrate Halloween we made a feast of fabulous fall foods! (This is actually a photo from dinner another night b/c I forgot to document our Halloween cooking extravaganza, but I wanted you to get the idea.) We (okay, mostly Tak and Robyn) made chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli raab (recipes from the Chez Panisse cookbook) and I made apple dumplings (crust from scratch!) for desert. I was highly impressed with our cooking. Everything was soooo delicious!

Then we all got dressed up!
Alena was the she wolf (with Romulus & Remus babies), Lizzie was Alice in Wonderland, Benjy was a badass cop, Robyn was a hippo ballerina, Tak was a samauri, and I was a mouse! This may be hard to believe, but most of the costumes were thrown together at the very last moment.

Alice & She-wolf

Then we drove down to Fremont to get our spook on at a haunted land, where they had these freaky lights & robot dino.

It was sort of pirate-themed & they staged these battles every few minutes. The ship also had giant blasts of flame, but I couldn't time my photo taking to document it.

There were six little haunted houses, each with a different theme. This was the CarnEVIL of Chaos!

The gang.

lately

For your viewing pleasure, I present an assortment of exciting things that have happened in my life recently:

Our friend John had a birthday party. His cake had blue icing and we wore party hats! His party also inspired my glowy celebration.

For some reason, I thought it would be a really cool idea to shove these glow sticks into my mouth for a photo. So fun.

My friends came to tour MOMA with me! Dan, Tak and Vero (not pictured) stopped by MOMA after my family studio shift a few weeks ago & we admired the ahhhhrt together. Then we got coffee on the roof.

It was deluxe.

For my birthday, Tak took me to dinner at Chez Panisse. It was tres magnifique!
And we got to dress up!

Plus, I got to watch the chefs (and Tak) while we ate! Their kitchen was spectacular.

We were the last seating for the evening, so I got to take this photo of the un-manned kitchen. And then they brought me birthday treats (with a candle)! It was quite possibly the greatest meal of my life.

Last week we played trivia at a bar in Rockridge. It was no Memory Lanes, but we had a good time. (We didn't win, but we were decent.)

Last Friday we had a Halloween Potluck at work. I wore my mouse ears from Disneyworld.

One of my coworkers made this awesome hummus cemetary!

And another made these spooky think tank/brain cupcakes!
My co-workers are good at Halloween Potlucks.

Devil Jane & Girl Scout Megan (+ spooky deco)!

Costume contest!

I also took some photos of the law school last week. It's under construction. (They're building an addition.)

This is the newly remodeled moot court classroom. Fance.

The end.
