soap box derby!

Alena and I met up with some of my friends from work on Sunday for the RedBull Soap Box race in Dolores Park.
It was pretty exciting (and really funny).

Here's a video that somebody made of the racers:

This was our favorite part of the races:

Obama-Rama!

So, I decided to make this giant picture of Obama for our window.
Now we fit in with the rest of the neighborhood -- Obama is kind of a big deal here.

The view from inside.

And then we decided to make shirts!

Lots of shirts.

I still have the screen, if anybody needs one.

We decided the sign wasn't big enough, so we made a super jumbo picture!
(And more shirts - new, improved color scheme.)

Big Sign!
(and doesn't our place look cute?)

It is kind of weird because it gets split by the window right at eye level, but whatevs.

MATES OF STATE

So, for those of you who haven't heard, Mates of State (my hands-down favorite band of all time) are playing in San Francisco on Tuesday. Sadly, the show sold out last weekend before I could get a ticket. And I was soooo sad.

But, guess what? I've been checking back (rather obsessively) in the hopes that more tickets would magically appear and ... they did! And Alena and I both got one! Yaaaayyyyyyyyy! I am beyond excited. Like, seriously.

(if you were wondering)

(or looking for bday present ideas ... not that i'm hinting at anything ... hmmm. mmmm ...)

i'm in need of some bike stuff. helmet (preferably something with maximum protection but minimum dorkiness), bike locks (kryptonite u lock, regular and/or mini), air pump for tires (just something that actually works), bike light, etc. also, a tune up and maybe some new tires/break pads would be really nice.

... just for anyonoe who might be wondering.

more pictures to come soon. i promise.

an assortment of SF adventures

A couple weeks ago, Jerry (& co.) came to SF and took us out to dinner on Fisherman's Wharf!

The Crew.
(Rachel, Jerry, Lizzie, Sid, Steve)

We ate at Boudin (where they make delicious sourdough).
And Lizzie tried to eat the giant bread alligator.

Hello!
This was very exciting. Here's the story:
Lizzie once bought this exceedingly cute bag at this little boutique near our place in St. Paul, but it didn't have a tag so we could never figure out where to get more. Then, we get off the bus at Haight & Ashbury and what do we find? Well, this sign, but also the home of Lizzie's mystery bag! V. exciting.

Cute SF houses

An evening out:
Alena's sister was in town this weekend, and we went out for dinner and drinks in the mission. And I was quite taken with this disco ball/silvers streamer decor at the bar. We're going to re-do our livingroom.

There was also a giant bear skin hanging on the wall (which I think we'll leave out of the livingroom makeover).
And dancing (if you look closely, you might be able to make out the moving figures).

The End.
