Lake Anza

my famous self-portrait (at Lake Anza)

Lizzie and Alena were both gone for a few days this week/end, and I was all by my lonesome. Luckily it was too warm and lovely to be too lonely.
On Saturday I went on a solo adventure up to Lake Anza in Tilden Park. It's actually pretty close to home (maybe 5 miles?), just up in the hills. (You may remember when we went to Inspiration Point -- that's also Tilden.) It's a little lake with a little man-made beach. Pretty neat stuff. Here are some pics:

Here's a beach shot ...
I think this was actually intended as a picture of that hiking ranger (center). They wear very serious outfits. And wool socks (no blisters for them)!

The water is clear and clean and beautiful (and reflective).

And there were ducks!

All in all, it was a pretty successful adventure. And best of all, no sunburn!

[A couple of notes: 1. Congrats to April (Alena's mom), who was honored by the YWCA this weekend! 2. Lizzie came back yesterday & Alena will be home tomorrow ... just in time for MATES OF STATE!]
