Lady Day

On Sunday, my friend (and co-worker) Jane invited us to a ladies' day (the "March of Dames"). It was fab-u-lous! We got to dress up and Jane even gave us all crowns (above), parasols (below) and little lacy gloves! Plus we got to spend the day with a whole crew of very cool ladies. AND we got to eat delicious pot-lucked food all day. Mmmm. It was truly excellent.

Lady Alena with parasol, lace gloves and mimosa.

We started the day at Jane's place where she treated us to mimosas, pancakes and the greatest bacon I have ever eaten.
Plus, there were fruit, muffins, homemade cookies and breakfast galore (pot-luck style).

Then we paraded to Delores Park, stopping for breaks at a few shoppes along the way.

Alena toasts to ladies in the park.

Ladies picknic in the park!

I am a lady.
(As a special bonus, I used what you may know/imagine as my "distinguished" voice. Hmmmm, it's very proper.)

The the ladies took in a little afternoon croquet. Alena and I turned out to be the resident experts, so we were charged with setup & instructions. How grand.

Our hostess (who kicked butt in croquet, btw)

Here we are looking sassy. Ladies are sassy. Apparently.

Look! We happened upon (Notre) DAME PLAZA!

The March of Dames.
Ta-da.

Hooray hooray, the first of May! Workers of the world, unite!

That looks like about as much fun as a person (particularly a lady) could have.

Happy May Day.
